Carlie’s Angels was named by Ruby and her Mom, who hosted the innagural summer camp in their west Toronto home. It has since expanded to include after-school programs and weekend intensives. Female identifying youth age ~6-13 come together to build skills on instruments they already play and develop skills on new ones, including voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, percussion and more. Students are encouraged to bring in their own original music or songs they like, and then as a group work together to come up with a unique arrangement that includes everyone. They compose and record a song together, and at the end of it all put on a performance for family and friends.
In 2015, the campers recorded a whole EP, featuring 5 completely original tunes by the campers, as well as all the arrangements and performances! Visit our bandcamp to hear more music by Carlie’s Angels.
In 2016, the campers decided to write an original song, record it and then script, film and edit a music video! They even invited a guest ally to be their boy character, and members of their community to submit pictures of their love.
