“I see Carlie as a social innovator, and extremely generous person who gives to their community constantly, and puts themselves out there fearlessly. They create visibility for a lot of us and our inner thoughts and insecurities get acknowledged through their persona in our public community.”
— Genevieve Marentette (Musician, Humber College Jazz Alumni, and Co-founder of Kensington Market Jazz Festival)

Making art is hard work. But being creative is the easy part, compared to the work of being an artist in a capitalist society, and participating in the music industry. I’ve come to understand that my real work is in removing barriers to meaningful participation, and creating the conditions for artists to thrive.
